Ann Kennedy Honored for 20 Years of Service

Bremerton, Washington – December 6, 2021. Ann Kennedy, Paratransit Services General Manager for its Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) brokerage call center, was honored by the local nonprofit company for 20 years of service.

Paratransit Services has operated an NEMT call center under contract with the State of Washington since 1988, when the company demonstrated the viability of the brokerage model for NEMT service delivery in a successful pilot program. Paratransit Services today is a regional NEMT broker serving several counties in the western part of the state from corporate headquarters in Bremerton.

Ms. Kennedy first joined Paratransit Services in November 2001 as Brokerage Billing Supervisor, where she supervised staff, oversaw the billing process, and also served as contact person for Paratransit Services’ subcontracted NEMT ride providers, the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), and corporate staff in resolving billing issues.

In 2003 she was promoted to her current position as General Manager, where she is responsible for the direction and oversight of the call center, now administered at the state level by the Health Care Authority (HCA). Ms. Kennedy works with our executive corporate team in planning and implementing refinements to our NEMT program, ensuring that Paratransit Services stays in the forefront of best practices and new developments.

In 2009 Ms. Kennedy was a speaker at the 17th National Rural Public and Intercity Bus Conference in Skamania, Washington, where she spoke on the topic “Brokerages as a Foundation for Building Community Transportation and Services in Washington State.” And in 2013 she was a speaker on the Urban Areas Security Initiative (UASI) Transportation Panel, "Disaster Planning for Vulnerable Populations," an event held in Auburn, Washington.

Her 20 years of service were officially recognized by Paratransit Services during a gathering at the company’s corporate headquarters in Bremerton, where Ms. Kennedy was congratulated by President/CEO David Baker, and presented with a plaque commemorating the milestone by Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Christie Scheffer.
